Giovanna Sensi-Isolani

My grandmother taught me to knit when I was nine years old and I have loved fibers, colors and textures all my life.  I have been an educator for 27 years teaching all kinds of science classes as well as ceramics.

I have always had a love of the arts.  I have worked as a weaver, a stained glass artist, a ceramics artist as well as a fiber artist.  When we were children in England my grandmother and my mother supported us by making fancy lampshades and pillows for antique shops.  I grew up under the shadow of my great-great grandfather, Randolph Rogers, who was a famous American sculptor residing and working in Italy.

My grandmother was a consummate knitter.  She was never without several projects going, and I grew up with her handmade sweaters.  She used all her leftover yarns to make two wonderful blankets with 100 squares with unique pictures embroidered on each.

I have always enjoyed learning, so I became a teacher.  As Co-owner of the Benicia Knitting Circle I most enjoy working with students, especially the children.  I love the opportunity to look at and select all the colorful yarns and to experiment with patters and designs.  It is such a joy having wonderful customers who also appreciate the brilliant colors and diverse textures of the fibers available today, and the opportunity to make delightful and memorable garments that they can use or share.

Please come by the Benicia Knitting Circle.  We are committed to your success as a fiber Artist, and we offer you a great selection of beautiful fibers that you deserve to honor the time and creativity that you put into your work.
