Ellen Blaufarb
Hi.
Welcome to our site. I am 66 years old and starting my second career. My
first career was in education and social service. Several opportunities I
had were teaching at elementary and middle school, being an elementary
school principal, serving the disabled as a behavioral specialist and
counseling under my Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling Credential. I
chose to open a knitting shop for many reasons. Among these were to provide
a sanctuary for women, children, (even men) where people from all over the
Bay Area can meet, share and learn a new skill. My experience has led me to
believe that it is in community that we are nurtured---in learning a skill
we build esteem and in love and support we flourish.
I learned to knit and crochet as a
child and have been a sporadic knitter. When knitting I found it difficult
to stop and would knit obsessively until I finished all the projects on my
list. Since retiring, I knit continuously, unhurriedly, and with great
enjoyment. Primarily, I knit for fashion, funk and fun.
Classes I most enjoy teaching are:
I hope to get to know you as you become a part of our ever expanding circle.
